About us

We are a 100% vegan fast-casual style eatery, committed to serving delicious food, where whole foods are the star of the menu.

Our kitchen is free of all animal products (free of dairy, eggs, honey and meat) and features fan favorite recipes from the Jazzy Vegetarian vegan television show, along with new offerings created specifically for the cafe.

Chef Laura Theodore, aka the Jazzy Vegetarian, is a recognized expert in the field of vegan cooking. She is one of the foremost leaders in the vegan food movement and has been creating delicious, vegan recipes for over 20 years. Laura’s award-winning style is at the center of the cafe’s progressive menu.

Our pub-style menu highlights items to please vegans, vegetarians and omnivores alike, featuring Laura’s vegan twists on American classics like Jazzy Vegan Burgers, Jazzylicious Pizzas*, Festive Salads, Delicious Wraps and Jazzy V Chili - along with “quick bites” and a fun “kiddie menu;” all fashioned to pair with the Sanctuary Brewing Company’s excellent vegan craft beer. If you have a sweet tooth, the café offers up our Chocolate Bar featuring luscious desserts like Laura’s famous Pots De Creme*.

The Jazzy Vegetarian Vegan Café will continue to follow its core mission; offering festive and tasty food that is delicious, nutritious, “eco-nomical,” and always 100% vegan.

The café is conveniently located within the Sanctuary Brewing Company in downtown Hendersonville, NC. (147 1st Ave East, Hendersonville, North Carolina, 28792). The Sanctuary Brewing Company is a brewery and tap room committed to enriching the lives of both humans and animals through excellent vegan craft beer, kindness and philanthropy. Sanctuary Brewing Company is dedicated to making small batch, high quality local brews, which pair beautifully with the café menu. Featuring classic beer styles like Belgian farmhouse ales, American stouts and West Coast IPAs, that go great with our “jazzylicious” menu. Join us!

LAURA's MISSION:

Making the world a better place, ONE RECIPE at a time, by creating and sharing modern, mindful and compassionate recipes that are delicious and satisfying... and sharing them with the world!

Folks often ask me, “Laura, what inspired you to become vegan?” My personal reasons for embracing a vegan diet are threefold: my compassion for animals, my desire for better health, and my aim to be more environmentally responsible.

ABOUT LAURA THEODORE

Laura Theodore is a three-time TASTE award-winning recognized public television personality, vegan chef, radio host, cookbook author, restaurateur and award-wining recording artist. Ms. Laura is the on-camera host of the highly successful, Jazzy Vegetarian vegan cooking series on public television. Season Seven of the Jazzy Vegetarian television show premieres in many cities, nationwide on, September 29th, 2018 (check local listings).

Ms. Theodore is author of four vegan cookbooks, including Laura Theodore's Vegan-Ease,  Jazzy Vegetarian’s Deliciously Vegan, Jazzy Vegetarian Classics and Jazzy Vegetarian. Laura is recipient of the Taste Award for Best Health and Fitness Program (Food and Diet), and she was recently inducted into the Taste Hall of Fame.

Laura is featured in the groundbreaking documentary film, Food Choices, on Netflix. She has made guest appearances on ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX, The Talk on CBS, Insider/Entertainment Tonight (HBO Red Carpet) and the WCBS Health & Wellbeing Report. Laura has been featured in the New York Times, New York Daily News, Mother Earth Living, VegNews, Family Circle, Readers Digest and PBS Food, among other highly respected news, food and lifestyle-related journals.

A critically acclaimed jazz singer and songwriter, Laura has recorded six solo CDs, including Tonight's the Night, which received a “Musician Magazine Award.” Her CD release with the late, great Joe Beck entitled Golden Earrings, was selected to appear on the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards list in the category of “Best Jazz Vocal Album.” On the acting side of things, Laura has appeared in over sixty plays and musicals, including two years in the Off Broadway hit show Beehive, earning her a coveted “Backstage Bistro Award.” She was honored with the Denver Critics Drama Circle Award as “Best Actress in a Musical” for her starring role as Janis Joplin in the world premiere production of Love, Janis.

With her love for good food, compassion for animals and enthusiasm for great music, multi-talented Laura Theodore truly is the Jazzy Vegetarian.
